Peanut Butter… After our English Bulldogs’ Own Heart!

What English Bulldog can refuse a tablespoon of peanut butter? Certainly not any of mine! In fact, they will just about “take me down” to get their respective tablespoon. In fact, most of the time, if one of my babies is taking medicine of some sort (usually an antibiotic … if any), I am very successful with giving the meds if I hide it in a bite of peanut butter! Although this particular recipe for dog treats has been shared many, many times with the original post originating from K9 Instinct, I thought I might share it again today with other popular treats that my “bullies” love this week! As an added bonus, this recipe is grain free! Whoohoo! I hope you all enjoy; I know your bullies will!

Homemade Grain Free Peanut Butter Treat

Recipe for English Bulldogs

  • one cup of coconut flour
  • one cup of all natural peanut butter
  • four eggs

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine coconut flour, peanut butter, and eggs in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Shape the dough into one-inch balls or cut the desired shape that you would like with a cookie cutter.
  5. Bake in the oven for 17-20 minutes.
  6. Let cool before serving!
  7. If desired, you can add a bit of honey to the recipe.

These treats are full of great nutrition! The rationale for coconut flour is that, of course, it is grain and gluten free, and provides healthy oils that are awesome for your English Bulldog’s coat and skin. Peanut butter is a great source of protein, and they LOVE IT! Finally, the eggs provide additional protein and continue to help their skin and their coat in that eggs contain healthy fats and oils. If you remember to use and ALL NATURAL peanut butter, then the treats are fairly low in calories if that is a concern. Finally, because these treats are all natural and contain no preservatives, be sure to refrigerate them. If you’d like to make quite a few at a time, they are able to be stored as well.

HOPE Your English Bullies ENJOY!

Mine sure do!
